Megaworld is making a bold push to capture the recovery in travel and leisure by converting its Westside Hotel into what will become the largest Mövenpick hotel in the world. The one thousand five hundred thirty room property, located in the Entertainment City complex, will undergo a full upgrade under global hospitality giant Accor.
The decision aligns with the Philippines renewed ambition to become a top tourism hub in Asia. International arrivals are rising and hotel occupancy in Metro Manila is recovering, driven by business travel, entertainment events and returning overseas Filipinos.
For Megaworld, the rebrand is more than cosmetic. It gives the company deeper access to Accors global distribution network, loyalty programs and corporate partnerships. These advantages are increasingly crucial in a competitive hotel market where travelers rely heavily on international booking channels.
The project also upgrades Megaworld’s positioning as a serious player in integrated tourism estates. With major casino and lifestyle developments in the area, a flagship hotel with strong international branding is expected to boost overall foot traffic.
For Filipinos working in the tourism and hospitality sector, the opening of a large scale, globally branded hotel will translate into more jobs and new skills training. It may also attract more events and entertainment shows, expanding opportunities for suppliers and small businesses around Entertainment City.
While the hotel is scheduled to reopen before the end of 2026, its scale and branding already place it among the most watched hospitality projects in the region.
